Between the 9th and 30th of December 2016 I took to the road alone. Traversing the highways and the back roads over 17 days from Cape Reinga to Wellington. This was my first major tour in over 20 years and met with great trepidation. Would my knees take it, would my mind!
After a year of building up my Surly Ogre, purchasing the requisite gear and provisions all was ready. I did what I could to inform others of my plan in a vein attempt to reduce my ability to renege.
It started in the rain. It ended as a wayfaring stranger on the waterfront of Wellington.
